after laughing until I cry at a few 'FAIL' pics I had to stop and wonder what it was about them that got that kind of reaction out of me - and here's what I've come up with
What makes a FAIL pic good?
1. it must be of the exact moment something goes horribly wrong, or 2. the subject must be concentrating very intensely yet somehow be completely misjudging the situation 3. something you don't pick up immediately not only mocks the subject, but is much more interesting or provocative 4. a moment in time captured for eternity that the subject would do anything to erase 5. just a pure example of complete and utter stupidity
the first two get me the most - especially in combination haha
and of course for me the lettering helps too - something bold and large

I have listened to over 70 hours of Jack Nicholson prank phone calls. Is that crazy?

yeah only a few of those are what I would call true fail pics - most of them were just mildly amusing

I liked images like that at one time, but now it just gets old. I've been on the internet too long to truly LOL at stuff like this. I still found that amusing.
I remember w3b's "Ventertainment - Echo" had a great fail image at one point.

I'm in the 'these never get old' camp. Especially when they're applied to the right situations.

You can agree, disagree, or agree to disagree, but I consider this a fail montage just because David Caruso is one the worst actors in the world! http://www.youtube.com/v/_sarYH0z948&rel=0

Arby's commercial:
"...It's a deal so irresistable it'll have you saying, "I'm thinking Arby's."
oooh.. yeah. so I guess they're saying that without a deal so irresistable there is no way in hell you'd ever say, "I"m thinking Arby's."
who are the ad wizards who came up with that one - last time I checked it's not good marketing practice to subliminally tell people you're so desperate for customers you'll just lower your prices to the point that regardless of how disgusting your food is, people can't afford not to eat it
FAIL
